[New York = Yasuhiro Kobayashi] CNBC and others reported on the 14th that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating the withdrawal of Twitter’s acquisition by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Mr. Musk posted in mid-May that “the transaction (to buy Twitter) cannot be advanced,” the SEC said at that point, saying the post meant a change in the acquisition plan. He said he asked Mr. Musk why he didn’t revise the plan.
SEC is also investigating how Mr. Musk acquired about 9% of Twitter shares. Shareholders who have acquired more than 5% of the shares are required to notify the SEC within 10 days, but they are concerned about the delay in Mr. Musk’s report.
